I started a new canvas yesterday. It was bright white and beautiful and just sat there beckoning me away from the big, much-more-serious one that I should have been working on.
This is the most exciting phase of a new piece because things change so fast. It’s impossible to know this early on what the final piece will look like. It’s so unpredictable that when it’s finished I should be just as surprised as you are.
My best guess is that the final image will have this structure but I don’t dare to guess what the colors will be or if there will be a figure or a chair or an angel’s wing. Here are some shots of the work in process.
