My paintings and drawings are the result of a dialogue between what I want and what the painting needs. I paint, wipe away, draw, erase, turn it upside down to see if it makes any sense at all, start and restart and rethink. The lines and layers of the final image give it a history. Look closely and you’ll see evidence where a nose moved up on a face or a window in an interior exists behind what’s now a blank wall, or where a shadow looks a lot like it may have once been an angel’s wing. To tell you the truth, this is how I play.
