I was born in Vicenza, Italy on an American army base. Throughout my childhood and early teens I moved more than a dozen times in the United States and in Europe. And I got to visit Venice, Rome, Florence, Heidelberg, Munich, and Pisa. The experience of seeing art by Italian Renaissance painters had a formative influence on me. I studied art at the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts, and went on to earn art degrees at three universities — Louisiana State University, Purdue, and Queens College in New York.
I married my high school sweetheart Melissa. We raised two children and moved from New Orleans to Boise in the ’90s.
I’ve continually worked on art throughout my career, exhibiting mostly in Boise and New Orleans, but also in Indianapolis, Virginia Beach and New York City. In 2010, Melissa and I banded together with a small group of local Boise artists including Will Spearman, Amber Daley and Penny Lea Mackie, and we formed the Treasure Valley Artists Alliance. My involvement in TVAA broadened my exposure to and collaboration with the visual arts community in Boise and give me a deeper understanding of the work and the needs of other artists.
